Obituary for Melissa Downin (Barkdoll)
Melissa I. (Barkdoll) Downin, 68, of Greencastle, PA passed away Saturday, December 25, 2021 in the Chambersburg Hospital. Born August 16, 1953 in Waynesboro, PA she was the daughter of the late Carmer H. and Vivian R. Barkdoll.
She was a graduate of the Waynesboro Area Senior High School with the Class of 1971. Melissa was employed in dietary at both the Quincy Home and at Greencastle School District.
Melissa is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert Downin; two children Jennifer Flythe (Julian) and Jeremy Downin both of Greencastle; four grandchildren Justyce and Jayda Flythe and Jake and Josselynn Downin; a sister-in-law Linda Barkdoll of Waynesboro; and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Terry Barkdoll.
A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are by SimpleChoice Cremation Services, Inc., Chambersburg, PA.
